I was headhunted by Time Inc. three years ago to help launch their health and fitness monthly Fit & Well. Over the past 2 years I have been fulfilling the duties of a Features Editor as well as standing in as Acting Features Editor on a regular basis. Having spent the last 6 years immersed in the health and fitness world, I have developed the ability to spot talent and new trends, and now have a bulging contacts book, filled with experts, influencers, PRs and dynamic writers.
October 2014 > Present: Fit & Well, Time Inc.
Acting Features Editor / Senior Features Writer
I cover everything from the latest fitness and diet trends to health reports, real life weight loss stories and celebrity interviews.
Each month I create original ideas, commission, edit and write incisive, engaging, and sometimes even humorous copy, for over 50% of the magazine. I also head up the entire fitness section, which includes creating exclusive workout plans.
Adhering to the Fit & Well rule that every feature has to contain something no one knew before, I hunt down the best experts and successfully balance the reader’s demand for solid science with a lively, inspiring writing style.
November 2011-October 2014: Top Santé, Bauer Media
Wrote reader-focused health and fitness features, as well as celebrity interviews, real-life stories and topical news pages.
Established successful monthly franchises, including fitness feature ‘Five Ways To’, and rejuvenated the Experts section by bringing in new experts each month to discuss the topics that mattered to our readers.
Transformed the Top Santé newsletter from an outdated fortnightly publication into a popular ‘What’s Happening’ weekly guide.
